Well done, you!

If you’ve made it this far, you’re now better equipped with practical tools to navigate pet loss. While nothing will take the pain away, you now know you’re not alone, and that there are meaningful strategies that can help you cope.

Here’s a quick recap of what you’ve learned:

  • Disenfranchised grief: what it is, and how to acknowledge and claim your loss.
  • Creating a memorial: a vital step in accepting the reality of the loss and beginning the grief journey.
  • Redefining daily routines: learning how to adjust to life without them.
  • Understanding grief: recognizing that grief is a normal response to loss that affects not only your emotions but also your body and brain function.
  • Managing pain without numbing: learning healthy ways to sit with and work through the pain.
  • Grieving with others: understanding the powerful impact of connection and shared healing.
  • Coping with painful thoughts: using tools to better manage intrusive or distressing memories.
  • Recognising unhealthy grieving: knowing the signs that it’s time to seek professional support.

Losing your furry friend truly sucks, there’s no sugar-coating it. And no course can take that deep pain away. But my hope is that, through this journey, you’ve felt understood, because we’ve been there too. Maybe you’ve also picked up a technique or two to help take the edge off.

One more thing: there’s no such thing as “getting over it.” That’s not the goal. Instead, aim to grow with it. Grief doesn’t disappear, it becomes part of you. Like healing from a broken knee and undergoing surgery, you carry the scar, but you keep going.

When I lost Lara, the memories would bring me to tears, just raw pain. But over time, those same memories made me cry, and then smile. I gradually became deeply grateful for the time we had together. I just feel so lucky to have had her in my life. And even though losing her was heartbreaking, I would do it all over again ❤️

I’d love to hear your story and any feedback you have about this mini-course. Feel free to email us at team@griefity.com.

With love,
Alex
