Grief support startup Griefity has been announced as a finalist in the 2025 NZ Hi-Tech Awards, recognised for its work using technology to transform how people access support after a death or major loss.
The NZ Hi-Tech Awards are New Zealand’s most prestigious technology industry accolades, celebrating excellence across software, hardware, deep tech, and emerging innovation.
The Most Innovative Software Solution category is sponsored by legal leaders Duncan Cotterill and recognises standout technical products that demonstrate originality, technical achievement, and innovation. Other finalists in this category are all industry leaders with standout teams, and include companies Ideally, Atomic.io, Carepatron, and Toku Eyes.
“Grief is one of the most universal human experiences, and yet the systems that surround it have barely changed in decades,” says founder Corinne Davies. “We built Griefity to fill the gap between crisis support and silence, and we’re proud to see that work being acknowledged.”
Founded and built in New Zealand, Griefity offers a modern alternative to traditional grief services, providing daily digital support, peer connection, and practical tools through a self-guided app. Its selection as a finalist highlights growing recognition of digital health innovation and the importance of addressing bereavement and loss in a more accessible way, suitable for consumers in 2025.
With over 20,000 users in 17 countries, Griefity is proving that software can deliver meaningful value in deeply human spaces without compromising empathy or usability. The platform’s design balances emotional sensitivity with technical clarity, offering an elegant, extensible solution in an area that’s long lacked innovation. The app can be used directly by individuals alongside a growing B2B offering used by funeral providers, workplaces, and other support services.
